What should the government do about the AIG bonuses?

- Many of you clearly don't have a clue how businesses and more importantly contracts work in this country. The owners, i.e. shareholders of a business don't get to vote on company operational matters which include compensation issues such as paying bonuses.
Do you think Sen. Grassley crossed the line when he suggested that AIG executives should resign or kill themselves?

- I'm not upset if the bonuses are contractually required payments or needed to retain the talent needed to turn the company around.

Please tell me you are kidding, this is the same "talent" that ran them into the ground in the first place! Secondly, bonuses are normally tied to performance and should only come from profits. This company has no profits, they would have collapsed without TAXPAYER money. Bottom line, and one way to look at it. My wife and I just paid over $25,000 in taxes last year so that an incompetent executive at AIG could get his million. We worked for him!

Larry, are you kidding yourself. Where did the money for the bonuses come from??????? Maybe the money we (as in taxpayer) gave them to bail the company out. That's not their money to give bonuses with. And another thing, retaining that talent....that talent is what put them in the position to have to have a bailout. I'd sure hate for them to be running any other company. GET REAL.
